My first 3.5 years on the City Council have been a learning experience. I learned early on that every single item on the Council’s agendas is important to someone so it is our duty to be as knowledgeable as we can be about that item because our vote is affecting someone’s life, quality of living and even their livelihood. It may sound cliché, but I use the guiding principle of whether something is good for Jonesboro when I vote. I do not vote for something if I do not feel like Jonesboro will benefit overall. We have faced many tough decisions on the council during my first 3 plus years, but I feel confident that I voted based upon the facts in front of us and not just because it would benefit certain groups of people.

Here are some brief bullet points of my time in office thus far:

• Serves as Chairman of Finance and Administration Committee.
• Serves on the Public Services Committee.
• Have served on the Advertising & Promotions Commission.
• Have served on the Integrity Oversight Committee.
• Successfully sponsored the sidewalk ordinance which was adopted in 2018 and will benefit development in Jonesboro for years to come.
• Pushed for increased financial transparency which has resulted in monthly financials, checks written and yearly budgets being posted on the Finance page of the city’s website (www.jonesboro.org) to facilitate the finding and viewing of these documents.
• A staunch believer in transparent dealings with the public by having discussions in open public forum rather than behind closed doors.
• Extremely responsive to citizens’ concerns.
• Have earned the respect of the Mayor, City Council and City Administration.
